The term “artificial intelligence” was coined in 1956 at the Dartmouth Conference, where a group of researchers, including John McCarthy and Marvin Minsky, came together to discuss the possibility of creating machines that could simulate human intelligence. This event marked the official birth of the AI field.

The early years of AI research were focused on creating programs and systems that could perform tasks such as playing chess and solving mathematical problems. It wasn’t until the 1960s and 1970s that AI research expanded into areas like natural language processing and machine learning, setting the stage for the AI advancements we see today.
